Students Commence the Sushi Tour of 2011

On January 3, Hayley Brigg, Terryn Shiells, and I commenced our 2011 Sushi Tour. We started the New Year off at Tokyo Sushi, located on Portage Avenue. We had ended 2010 with a fabulous lunch (insert David Driedger here) at BluFish on Bannatyne.
Tokyo Sushi did not disappoint. We ordered the Spicy Wha, an assortment of raw fish, avocado, and chili sauce. It is an inside out Maki roll with bits of tempura on the outside. Other rolls were the Crispy Crispy, one of my favourites (crab meat, boiled shrimp, yam, and cucumber), Philadelphia, which I maintain is the best in the city, BC roll, which is salmon tempura, cucumber, and teriyaki sauce, and the Eskimo roll.

The Eskimo was gigantic and I forgot to ask for it without fish eggs
(they      really      creep       me      out) and so I had to scrape them off each roll. I’ve been to Tokyo Sushi enough that they should be able to read my mind about those kinds of things by now.

I sincerely recommend this sushi restaurant to others and have many times in the past. It is my go-to sushi place and really one of the only places I have spent money on food voluntarily for a long time.
Tokyo Sushi combines great food, with (usually) great service, and a quiet, ethnic atmosphere. This place is great for dates and dinner with family/friends. It is NOT good for people watching/commenting as the tables are rather close together and you will be heard. Trust me.
This post has officially made me hungry. I will post our next addition to the 2011 Sushi Tour in the weeks following.

  4. Lindsey- I can't say I ever get veggie rolls. But the avocado one at Tokyo is good. I will try to insert them into my next meal though!
And Brea- you are always welcome to come! We don't have the next one scheduled yet but I will let you know. And when you say "pre-fish" you mean.... FISH EGGS?!
